Bio
Mason studied with Grammy-winning guitarist Sergio Assad and world-renowned performer Denis Azabagic at the music conservatory of the Chicago College of Performing Arts. While there, Mason took prizes in several national guitar competitions including first and second place in the Society of American Musicians’ 79th and 78th annual competitions, respectively and performed for artists such as Roland Dyens, Sharon Isbin, Lorenzo Michelli and Oscar Ghiglia. He also studied composition with composer Gyula Fekete of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music - Budapest. He has performed throughout the USA to great acclaim as both a soloist and ensemble musician and has received honors and distinctions from some of the preeminent names in music.
As a composer, his works reflect his many influences and respect for a wide range of musical genres. Mason’s compositions have been performed in concert halls throughout the world and have appeared in various media.
In addition to music, Mason has extensively studied sound and technology, leading him to the University of Edinburgh in Scotland (where his primary research interests were interactive sound design, mobile device audio and mobile app development) and eventually to the Juilliard School in New York City, where he directed music and educational technologies.
